An Inspired Lens

an inspirational photoblog discovering beauty all around us

crimson on white

crimson on white

I see a lot of Queen Anne’s Lace when I’m out walking,

and I’ve wondered why I see a dark spot on some.

A closer look reveals it is actually a minuscule flower –

a drop of crimson placed in the center of bridal white.

blackberries

blackberries

Earth’s crammed with heaven,

And every common bush afire with God;

But only he who sees, takes off his shoes –

The rest sit around it and pluck blackberries.

~ Elizabeth Barrett Browning

wings

wings

If I ride the wings of the morning,

if I dwell by the farthest oceans,

even there your hand will guide me,

and your strength will support me.

~ Psalm 139:9-10

aspens

aspens

On my Rockies road-trip I met these tall silent sentinels

– keepers of the forest, guarding the mountain paths.

Their feet were dirty but their hearts were glowing,

standing proud of their place in Creation.

Mt Rundle

Mt Rundle

I was blessed with a short vacation spent with dear friends in Alberta.

We took a sightseeing road-trip through the Rockies,  dodging rain and elk along the way.

No photo can convey the incredible beauty we enjoyed,  but here’s my meager offering:

liquid gold

liquid gold

At first glance this was a rather drab trickle of water

until I stepped closer, changing my viewpoint,  and suddenly it changed into liquid gold.

What it was reflecting made all the difference …

newborn bliss

newborn bliss

My niece is wildly delighted to hold her 1 month old little brother!

I spent 4 days visiting them and experienced newborn bliss for myself.

Newborns are so tiny and soft and cuddly and perfect and wonderful.

I highly recommend holding one – it’s absolutely therapeutic.

roadside blur

roadside blur

On a recent road trip I pointed my camera out the car window and tried some “drive-by shooting”.

I love how motion blur transforms the roadside weeds into abstract colour.
